SVNIT Surat

One of the 20 NITs formed in India, Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat (SVNIT) was formed by none other than Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s former Home Minister. Originally the institute was known as Sardar Vallabbhai Regional Engineering College, Surat. The institute offers technical studies and large number of students apply here to study every year. SVNIT is affiliated to the Andhra University. The college has a strong reputation attached to it and the students passing out of the college make a mark for themselves in the corporate world.

SVNIT Campus

The campus of SVNIT spreads over a kilometre at the Surat- Dumas highway in Ichchhanath, an area 13 kilometres away from Surat railway Junction. The campus has 9 boys’ and 2 girls’ hostels with all the basic amenities like:

There is a Staff Club too. Unlike its name, here small level student festivals take place. Various large scale festivals keep taking place in SVNIT, Surat and it is one of the most happening NITs in the country. Festivals like: Autumn Fest (Annual automotive fest), Sparsh (cultural fest), Mindbend (technical fest) and MMNCT (Manoj Memorial Night Cricket Tournament) are regularly organised every year.

Academics at SVNIT, Surat

Undergraduate course offered at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat, is Bachelor of Engineering or B.E. Admission into this course is possible through AIEEE examination. Post graduate courses offered at SVNIT are Master in Technology or M.Tech and Master in Engineering or M.E. Students with GATE scores are preferred to be admitted into M.tech. PhD courses are also offered here. As soon as the AIEEE and GATE results are out admissions into SVNIT, Surat start taking place.
