Panjab University, among the oldest universities, was established under the Punjabi University Act. Punjab University offers various courses for students – Regular as well as distance learning. [hana-code-insert name=’rectangle’ /]Its campus stretches over an area of 550 acres and is located in Chandigarh, its capital city. Panjab University has a total of 172 colleges affiliated to it. Since the day of its establishment it has achieved a milestone in educational development as well as development of Punjab region.

Panjab University – Correspondence Course (Distance Education)

There are number of courses which are offered by Punjab University. The courses includes Bachelors courses (Like Bachelor of Art, Bachelor of Commerce Etc.), Master Courses (Like Master of Arts, Master of Commerce etc.). Students can also pursue technical courses through Punjab University distance learning programme. Various study centers have been provided by Punjab University all over Punjab. These centers helps the students choose the best course for them and also provide the students with the study material. The method of instruction includes printed study material in self learning mode, personal contact programme, response sheets, assignments etc. Various seminars are also organized by the University for counseling of students. Panjab University – Regular Courses

Beside distance education programme, Punjab University is giving a lot of emphasis on regular courses – both professional as well as technical courses. For regular courses Punjab University have facility of 4 campuses, 634 Faculty members and 557 affiliated colleges.

Academic Departments

Panjab University has more than 70 academic departments which includes new emerging disciplines. The list includes Botany, Computer Science & Application, Chemistry, Sociology, History, Public Administration and lot more. More than 90 Master level programmes and more than 30 undergraduate programmes have been launched by Punjab University.

Library and Other Facilities

Punjab University Library is one of the best libraries offered by any university. It has 56 departmental libraries. It also has latest computers and wide area network. It also has the facility of digital library. The library easily fulfils the requirement of faculties, students and other staff members and is open 24 hours.

Beside library, Punjab University has established an IT centre to manage the entire IT infrastructure like software development, website development etc. It has computerized examination system. It also has the facility of medical support to all the students and employees. Punjab University students have also taken part in many national and international level competitions and have won many awards and trophies.
