New IRCTC ticket cancellation charges and refunds

[hana-code-insert name=’large rectangle’ /]From 12th November 2015 the Indian railways has significantly changed rail ticket cancellation and refunds rules in track with increased online booking options and to reduce touts and middlemen in ticket reservation system to benefit genuine travellers. The move is to make cancellations more convenient to passengers and end black-marketing of tickets. The cancellation charges are nearly double the previous cancellation charges and time limits have also been changed to discourage bulk bookings by travel agents and touts who try to sell it in the black market for higher charges or just cancel them if there are no takers .

Unreserved, RAC and waitlisted tickets cancellation charges

Unreserved Second class Rs 30

Reserved second class and other classes Rs 60

Confirmed ticket cancellation charges upto 48 hours before train departure

1st AC / Executive class	Rs 240
2nd AC / 1st Class	Rs 200
3AC/ACC/3AC Economy	Rs 180
Second Sleeper class	Rs 120
Second Class	RS 60

Confirmed ticket cancellation charges between 48 hours and 12 hours before train departure

25% of ticket cost or charges mentioned above whichever is higher

Confirmed ticket cancellation charges between 12 hours and 4 hours before train departure

50% of ticket cost or charges mentioned above whichever is higher

Confirmed ticket cancellation charges 4 hours before train departure and there after

No refunds

Train chart preparation time

First Chart will be made 4 hours before train departure and second chart will be made 30 minutes before departure of train. Train ticket can be booked up to 30 minutes before departure of train.
